The Story Behind the Art
Frida Kahlo’s life was marked by a significant risk-taking spirit and a passionate dedication to her art and activism. Born in Mexico City, she overcame a bus accident at an early age that left her with lifelong physical pain and challenges. Despite these hardships, Kahlo’s desire to express her identity and Mexican culture through art never wavered. Her self-portraits, often painted during sleepless nights brainstorming designs, reveal a raw honesty and a deep connection to her roots.
As a member of the Mexican Communist Party and wife of the famous muralist Diego Rivera, Kahlo’s work was intertwined with political and cultural movements that shaped modern Mexico. Today, her paintings are displayed in prestigious exhibitions worldwide, including the MoMA in New York and galleries in Paris, symbolizing her enduring influence on art and society.

How to Use Your Kit
- Begin by matching the numbers on the paint pots to those on the canvas, starting with lighter areas and gradually moving to darker tones.
- Dip your brush in the pot, making sure it’s 100% dry before dipping again. Keep in mind that acrylic paint is water soluble, so more water in the pot will make the paint thinner.
- Apply your paint with care, layering two coats if you want a richer color.
- Enjoy the process of creating your own homage to Frida Kahlo — a creative journey that’s as fulfilling as the finished artwork itself.
